| How she got started: Internet baby, started my career in a clec start up just out of school at the ground level.
Her advice: Just do it and no matter how tuff it gets or what menial tasks you have to start with, just do it knowing you will get there. Do what no one else wants to do, become the expert on the toughest thing aroound you, and they will come. I suppose I have lots of these ideas but we can chat more when you'd like.

ATLANTA – Women in Technology’s annual fund-raiser drew a record crowd and donations at its recent annual fund-raiser.
The group, which is part of the Technology Association of Georgia, drew more than 400 people and raised more than $125,000 at its ninth annual WIT Connect event.
Proceeds will benefit WIT’s WIT on Track and Girls Get IT initiatives. WIT on Track offers an internship in IT or related fields for women from the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention's Second Chance Homes Program. The IT program focuses on working with girls who might be interested in entering the IT field.

Tenth AWC Augusta Ada Lovelace Award goes to Dr. Dorothy Denning

Anonymous writes "The Association for Women in Computing is honoring Dr. Dorothy Denning, as the 10th recipient of their Augusta Ada Lovelace Award. The award recognizes either or both: outstanding scientific and technical achievement; and extraordinary service to the community on behalf of women in computing and information technology. Dr. Denning is being honored for her work in information security and cryptography. The Association for Women in Computing is a non-profit, professional organization. The banquet will be held in Bethesda, MD (outside Washington, DC) on June 15th.
